Fronte del Porto aka On the Waterfront (1954) Poster

 Crime|Drama|Romance. The Technicolor style of the poster gives one a sense of old Hollywood during late 40’s and early 50’s.  The movie poster displays an era in which the presence of mob and mafia were coming into a style of glamorization. The hook, line and sinker for attracting audiences to see this movie is centralizing the star (Marlon Brando) and placing a descending, fading, bloody hook in front of Brando (as if the hook actually pierces him). The gestured scene of the dock from a linear perspective in the background gives us insight into the plot of the movie

Boogie Nights (1997) Poster

 Drama.  The use of both warm and cool colors against a black background emphasis the radiant essence of the 70’s. The layering of two warm colors on the star and movie title embodies the retro style of the 70’s. The collages of flatten images extracted from the movie gives off an old Hollywood vibe and insight to the plot of the movie. The central star containing images from the movie draws the audience. The star is also a play on what the main character’s (Mark Wahlberg) role in the movie.   
      Role Models (2008) Poster

   Comedy. The subtle blues pops from the grimy whites and pale grays, which gives you sense of the two characters in the forefront. The minimalistic style gives a sense of modernism. Focusing more on the characters (Rudd and Scott) rather than fill effects. Explaining the movie within a sentence and within an image is a genius way to get audiences to know what the movie is about before they go see it.
