Stefan Sagmeister

"Stefan Sagmeister is one of today's most innovative and influential graphic designers. His conception and application of graphic design goes above and beyond traditional notions of the practice, taking it to the realm of performative and conceptual art, painting and sculpture. Sagmeister is most widely known for his album cover artwork for bands like The Rolling Stones, Talking Heads and Lou Reed, and for books, like Mariko Moriís Wave UFO for the Kunsthaus Bregenz, which function as sculptural objects."

"Stefan Sagmeister's creative world is marked by his innovative way of merging the unmergeable."

"Sagmeister's cover designs visualize musical contents; through traditional techniques such as typography and processing, they capture the public's attention."

Paula Scher

Paula Scher

Scher has developed identities, packaging for a broad range of clients from The New York Times Magazine to Target, from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center to The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.

"Paula Scher has designed a new identity for the Philadelphia Orchestra...Scher's redesign coincides with the arrival of Charles Dutoit as the orchestraís new chief conductor and artistic adviser, and the new identity establishes a classical and modern brand for this important institution...There is a playful balance of scale between the mark and the logotype, and the P may also be used by itself in applications where a small scale would render the logotype illegible, or where the mark and logotype may appear as separate elements.

"With a career spanning 35 years so far, Paula Scher continues to set standards in graphic design with bold imagery and a highly illustrative approach to typography."

"The Thing's experimental graphics and text may be a little baffling to those (like me) who are unfamiliar with their theories, but the 2003 book is a great source for any font nerd or for those curious about the relationship between words and images."
- Ami Kealoha, Cool Hunting

Art NEWveau! Mucha!

Pole Star,
Alphonse Mucha

The flower border displays fluidity with its repetitive style.
The solar ring highlight baffles me because this design is still popular in the 21st Century.

Variations of textures, techniques, and style used in this decorative panel, presents an eye catching or attention getting aesthetic. A mixture of the real and the surreal.
